Blendin Bloemendaal has been awarded Best New Boutique Hotel 2024 at the prestigious Entree Awards. The jury praised the hotel for its “perfect balance between luxury and local authenticity,” highlighting the vision of owner Jeroen Postma and the unique design by architect Hans Kuijten, perfectly integrated with its natural surroundings.
A Design Inspired by Local Heritage
Perched atop the dunes of Bloemendaal, Blendin opened its doors this year with 49 luxurious rooms and suites. The restobar offers breakfast, drinks, shared dining, and high tea, while the outdoor terrace provides stunning sea views. Guests can also enjoy the adjacent annex with meeting facilities, three exclusive suites, and a rooftop infinity pool with panoramic ocean views.
“I was tasked with designing a seaside hotel that evokes a beach vibe: fresh, modern, and light,” says Hans Kuijten, who created the interior in collaboration with dEP de Sfeerontwerpers and RH Interieurs’ Arno van den Berg. The concept, based on the works of famed local conservationist Jac. P. Thijsse, was developed by Roemer Overdiep of InLeisure. Eindhoven-based Diederendirrix was responsible for the exterior design.
Jury Remarks
The jury highlighted how Blendin Bloemendaal “breathes the story of Jac. P. Thijsse and the surrounding nature.” From vintage typewriters to bespoke art installations, every detail has been thoughtfully curated to immerse guests in this narrative. A standout feature is the lobby’s centerpiece, an art installation by local duo Sinke & Van Tongeren, inspired by the region’s flora and fauna.
Top-tier Facilities and Artistic Design
Blendin’s facilities reflect an exceptional standard, with comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms, and a private rooftop infinity pool. The design is described as “a masterpiece in itself,” seamlessly blending style with storytelling to create a memorable experience for every guest.
Commitment to Sustainability
Blendin Bloemendaal is built with sustainability at its core. Features include energy-efficient systems like heat pumps and carefully sourced materials that minimize environmental impact. “By combining exceptional guest experiences with a focus on sustainability, they’ve created a hotel that is not only financially successful but also meaningful for their guests,” noted the jury.
